Sacharja Cunningham

Sacharja (he/they) is a cultural worker from the Lenape Land known as Brooklyn, N.Y. and currently based on the land of the same people known as Philadelphia, P.A. For undergrad, he majored in Africana Studies at Hamilton College. There, he grew as a multimedia poet exploring Blackness, queerness, concepts of home, anti-Black violence, and liberation. Sacharja is currently pursuing his M.S.Ed. in Reading, Writing, and Literacy at the University of Pennsylvania where he is studying poetry as a literacy practice. Moving forward, he hopes to better understand how he can use poetry as a means of political education for Black people in community-based spaces outside of the formal education system. Along with therapy, his ancestors, and chosen family, he relies on reading, music, dancing, meal prepping, occasional exercise, and Black Twitter to get him from one day to the next. Follow him on social media @sacharjaishome for more updates on his work!
