Presenting Our Latest Short Film Competition Winner: When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny

Art With Impact is pleased to announce our latest short film competition winners, Blythe Baird and Abby Thompson, and their film, When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny.

“If you develop an eating disorder when you are already thin to begin with, you go to the hospital. If you develop an eating disorder when you are not thin to begin with, you are a success story.”

Those chilling–yet often true–words are part of this month’s dynamic short film, When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny, which takes an unflinching look at the pervasive mental illness of eating disorders. The film can be viewed in its entirety here.

Life with an eating disorder is a very personal issue for author, spoken word poet, and actress Blythe Baird, whose poem “When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny” was the inspiration for this film. Baird’s work has been featured by The Huffington Post, EverydayFeminism, A-Plus, Write Bloody, Button Poetry, Mic, Bustle, & more.

Her poem was adapted for the screen by the film’s director, Abby Thompson, who is a content creator, filmmaker and storyteller who aims to capture unique and important stories about the human experience.

Congratulations, Blythe and Abby, on this impactful winning film!
