Using Creativity to Reduce Stigma and Support Students’ Mental Wellness

Art With Impact (AWI) founder Cary McQueen will share how AWI has used interactive filmmaking workshops to help students explore complex issues related to mental health, creating safer communities. Formatted as an interactive discussion, this session will explore how art and creativity-based approaches can provide unique opportunities to safely explore mental health in school environments. Cary will share AWI’s curriculum, including several examples of short films made by high school students, and will close the session with collective brainstorming on how filmmaking and other creative approaches might be incorporated into your school’s mental health strategy.
